Ed Macey-MacLeod to Address Cybersecurity at SCIP’s Annual Meeting

Ed Macey-MacLeod, CDT, CISSP, RCDD will speak at the Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice’s (SCIP) Annual Meeting in Alexandria, VA on October 8th, 2019.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) defines cybersecurity as the “prevention of damage to, protection of, and restoration of computers, electronic communications systems, electronic communications services, wire communication, and electronic communication, including information contained therein, to ensure its availability, integrity, authentication, confidentiality, and nonrepudiation.” Because of the ever-growing reliance on technology and its infrastructure, cybersececurity should be at the forefront of design. But how are design teams and engineers incorporating cybersecurity into their projects and buildings? On October 8th, Ed Macey-MacLeod will present “Specifying Cybersecurity” at SCIP’s Annual Meeting. He will address what cybersecurity is, why it’s relevant to the built environment, and how to specify for cybersecurity.

Ed Macey-MacLeod specializes in intelligent buildings, converged networks, security engineering, building automation and control systems, AV, and information communications technology. In his own words, he is on a mission to make buildings more intelligent for those who build, work, and live in them. Ed maintains a CSI Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) certification, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, and Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification, exemplifying his commitment to education and the information technology industry. In addition, he has earned an ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management License and an AVIXA Certificate as a Recognized AV Technologist, all while remaining an active member in ASHRAE, BICSI, the Construction Specification Institute, and the International Systems Security Certification Consortium.
