From small, single-department renovations to new construction of major medical institutions, our knowledge of the systems that support medical technology helps your project flow smoothly. We offer impartial product recommendations and, as a result, are more responsive to your needs. Our consulting and design work saves you money by providing technology assessment studies; specialty planning; expert knowledge of current and emerging technology; equipment programming, budgeting and prioritization; and bid analysis.

Medical equipment planning is a service-based discipline that controls spending and ultimately saves the client thousands of dollars; SM&W’s process encompasses a blend of business and technical capabilities.  It is performed in a systematic progression and is sequenced to coordinate with the design and construction phases of a construction project, the key being accurate and complete construction documents.  It also assures cost containment through the introduction of options and alternatives, reducing project change orders, improves scheduling and lowers purchasing costs resulting from our comprehensive purchasing experience.

The medical equipment planning discipline maintains an extensive medical equipment library and database, as well as, a comprehensive directory of manufacturers and vendors.  SM&W has provided equipment planning and procurement services on projects ranging from 1,000 to over 1 million square feet of new and renovated area.  Because of the medical equipment planning active practice over the years, experience includes almost all outpatient, inpatient, diagnostic and treatment specialties and support services departments.  SM&W is not dependent upon manufacturers providing planning assistance, which enables us to be much more responsive to requests for information from the A/E team.
