SM&W seeks a Business Development Associate for our San Francisco location.  The goal of SM&W’s Business Development team is to support the growth of new client relationships and analyze potential markets to capitalize on new and existing emerging growth and revenue opportunities.  In this role, you will be responsible for creating and developing opportunities that will garner ongoing and continued business growth in all sectors of our consulting environment.    The successful candidate will have a strong network in the San Francisco and west coast region and demonstrate success in cultivating and managing relationships within the A/E/C industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Team with the Branch Director and practice group leaders, partners, and Business Development & Marketing leadership to develop and execute specific goals, initiatives, and strategies to support business development.
• Help to develop and execute SF-focused business development plans to identify cross-selling opportunities, expand client relationships, and generate revenue.
• You will leverage your experience and network to secure meetings with key decision-makers (C-level) within the A/E/C industries with the skills to effectively communicate strategy and vision.
• Develop and maintain strategic multi-level client relationships to uncover specific needs and behaviors of key decision-makers engendering new business opportunities.
• Understand competitive intelligence and research, to ensure strong intra-disciplinary and industry group communication and client service opportunities.
• Leverage SM&W’s marketing technology to identify potential leads and track and manage opportunities and pursuits.
• Represent SM&W at key firm and regional events cultivating contacts for business development.
• Maintain a high profile in professional and community organizations, including SMPS, AIA; identify and attend other local organizations to network and build relationships.
• Liaise with the marketing team to develop timely communications – including byline articles, white papers, blog posts, newsletter articles, and social media to leverage and raise awareness of SM&W capabilities.
• Assure SM&W Quality standards, methodologies, and procedures are adhered to.
• Develop a working knowledge of the various disciplines to facilitate and increase overall knowledge of the SM&W business.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or real-life experience in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, English, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of business development experience and network in the A/E/C industry.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office, with strengths in the latest versions of MS Word, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

• Deltek Vantage or CRM software.
• Exceptional writing and overall communication skills.
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE:

The expected annual salary range for this San Francisco or Bay Area-based position is between $100,000- $130,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors.
