SM&W Contribution

Centrally located on the main campus of Colorado State University, the William E. Morgan Library addition and renovation provided additional space for collaborative and interactive research and learning. The renovated facility included digital production studios, exhibit and performance space, study rooms, computer classrooms, a café and a study space known as the Cube. The U.S. Green Building Council certified the building as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver.

Our acousticians provided recommendations for room acoustics, sound isolation and noise control. They reviewed interior finishes as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems to ensure a functional learning environment.

The addition of digital production studios allowed students and faculty to create high-quality, original digital content. These were complemented with exhibit and performance spaces. Our audiovisual team also provided design criteria for the digital signage and graphic wayfinding. Our IT consultants upgraded the infrastructure to comply with both current TIA-568B Standards and Colorado State University standards.

The security design expanded the existing intrusion-detection and access-control systems and provided networked digital video recorders and analog cameras. They upgraded the tattle-tape book theft system to a hybrid system that functions with the existing book tags and provides a migration path to radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology for alarm monitoring.
