SM&W Contribution

The University of Wisconsin has raised the bar in terms state-of-the-art facilities. Their simulation center offers Madison clinicians the ability to practice medical procedures on life-like patient mannequins with simulated technology support, and it includes simulation operating rooms, simulation trauma rooms, a skills laboratory and patient rooms.

The facility offered one of the first fully digital design solutions as well as a myriad of capabilities for the instructor and technician. Students are recorded and viewed using a digital, Internet-protocol-based audio and video network. This enhances training and education by offering other students the ability to view streaming content as needed.

The project required the digitization of audio, video and control signals for the entire facility. The ability to fully integrate recording, viewing and streaming from any space to any other space cut costs while providing added flexibility to the user experience.

SM&W was very responsive to working side by side with us through any issues that arose throughout the project. They helped us arrive at the best design for our needs and one that matched our budget. In the end, we have a system that is at the forefront of technology used in sumulation centers today that is also flexible enough to allow us to grow our program in the future.
