SM&W Contribution

One of the first major urban projects to be implemented by the State of California’s Trial Courts Facility Standards, the San Bernadino Justice Center featured 36 criminal, traffic, family and juvenile courtrooms as well as jury assembly areas, training facilities and administrative areas. Working closely with the architectural team, the Administrative Office of the Courts and the local San Bernardino Court staff, our team helped to ensure a flexible building that incorporated expandibility for future technologies and program changes within the courtrooms.

Interconnected by our innovative IT infrastructure design, the project converges all the low voltage systems onto a common IP backbone, operating over a converged IT network. The audiovisual system design allowed the courthouse to utilize current trends in digital evidence presentation, video arraignment, audiovideo teleconferencing and language interpretation. Our acoustical consultants worked with the architectural team to provide guidelines and recommendations to minimize the impact of environmental noise and to provide sound isolation.
