University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center

SM&W Contribution

Shen Milsom & Wilke has partnered with the University of Maryland (UM) Medical System and Wilmot Sanz Architects to provide medical equipment consulting for the Capital Regional Medical Center. The new facility consists of a 600,000 SF state-of-the-art hospital and a 70,000 SF Ambulatory Care Center that will provide access to primary and ambulatory care services in Prince George County Maryland. The project had an owner-furnished equipment budget of $93 million.

The full-service hospital includes over 200 acute care beds with dedicated space for heart and vascular care and a new maternity center, 8 technologically advanced ORs, 20 short stay beds, and a 45 bay Emergency Room. The Ambulatory Care Center will have one floor dedicated to Radiation Oncology and another floor multi-specialty outpatient clinic.

The most notable challenge was coordinating equipment and workflow between 2 different hospital staff, the existing Prince George Medical Center and the University of Maryland Medical Centers. Our team executed medical equipment planning from concept through construction admin with additional assistance provided during purchasing.
