SM&W Contribution

Shen Milsom & Wilke (SM&W) developed a comprehensive Technology Master Plan and Budget that defined the audiovisual and multimedia strategy for the 1 Penn Plaza project, aligning closely with the conceptual design vision. As part of this effort, SM&W evaluated multiple technology solutions for each program area, analyzing advantages, disadvantages, and cost implications. The team coordinated manufacturer presentations, site visits, and product demonstrations to assess the latest technologies and determine their suitability for the project. The project included the renovation and upgrade of the entrances and amenity spaces in one of their flagship properties in Manhattan, at 1 Penn Plaza. The amenity spaces total 60,000 SF.

The resulting Technology Master Plan Report provided detailed recommendations, associated infrastructure requirements, and high-level budget estimates for hardware and integration costs. Tiered solution options—high, medium, and low—were presented to support informed decision-making and cost planning.

Throughout the process, SM&W collaborated closely with Vornado and the architectural team to review findings, refine strategies, and establish consensus on priorities. The study also identified opportunities for system convergence and future-ready infrastructure to support emerging technologies.

The completed Technology Master Plan and Budget established a clear framework for subsequent system design and implementation, serving as the foundation for the project’s integrated technology solutions.
