Waldorf Astoria Repositioning

SM&W Contribution

Shen Milsom & Wilke (SM&W) is providing audiovisual and IT systems consulting services for the Waldorf Astoria renovation project in New York City. The project involves the repositioning of the existing 1,400-key hotel as a boutique 500-key hotel, creating new value by repurposing hotel space as residential condominium use. The project also includes the renovation of the world-famous Grand Ballroom, Jade and Astor Ballrooms and specialty suites that have hosted presidents, royalty and world leaders. In addition, the retail, event, and amenities spaces are being renovated and upgraded to match the standard of luxury set by the condominiums and hotel.

Our scope of work encompasses the entire building, including a variety of spaces such as luxury residential units, common areas, and back-of-house (BOH) support spaces. It also covers hotel service apartments, hotel guest rooms, and their respective BOH support areas. Additionally, the scope includes TV distribution, guest room entertainment systems, and a digital concierge. We are responsible for the design and implementation of specialty suites, including the Presidential and Royal Suites, featuring state-of-the-art audiovisual functionality. Other areas include press junket suites, a world-class screening room, and various amenities like the wellness center, spa, and meeting rooms. The project also includes all special public function rooms, retail spaces, public areas, and lobbies, along with all BOH and MEP spaces, including below-grade elements. Lastly, the scope includes the sales office, which features a multimedia video wall and an interactive experience.
