SM&W Contribution

SM&W provided acoustics, audiovisual and physical security consulting services for the College of Business at James Madison University (JMU). The project consisted of constructing a new 129,000-square-foot facility that seamlessly connects a the fully refurbished Showker Hall, comprised of 87,000 renovated square feet. Key spaces in the project included an expanded capital markets lab, an innovation, collaboration, entrepreneurship (ICE) lab, a professional sales lab, a large multi-function space, state-of-the-art learning spaces, collaboration and study rooms, a board room, a café and dining facility.

The first phase of the project consisted of constructing the new building. Once that was completed, the second phase renovated Showker Hall and connected it to the new building. SM&W worked with JMU’s classroom technology team to assure that the University’s technology standards were incorporated, as well as providing infrastructure that would support advances in technology for years.

The College was built to achieve LEED certification. It was designed to reduce water and energy usage, as well as reducing the heat island effect.
