Shen Milsom & Wilke provided acoustical, audiovisual, IT infrastructure and security consulting expertise for the headquarters relocation and development project for this confidential private equity firm. Headquartered in New York City for decades, the firm embarked on a strategic relocation that would allow them to thoughtfully incorporate technology throughout their space to create a fully connected workplace, as well as creating a comfortable acoustical environment. The project team focused extensively on the details of a coordinated plan for office space, collaboration areas, a conference center, highly flexible amenities spaces and a signature terrace.
To kick-off the project, SM&W’s acoustical team provided a comprehensive acoustical survey of the client’s existing office spaces to understand the specific acoustical sensitivities of the staff. This survey allowed SM&W to design according to client-specific benchmarks and pain points, rather than applying best practices blindly. From there, SM&W’s team was brought on to the project after the Construction Document (CD) phase had begun.
SM&W was able to escalate programming and design development to align with the rest of the project’s schedule for a 100% CD submission. Key outcomes of SM&W’s scope of work were high performance audio conferencing, tightly coordinated with architecturally complex ceilings and furniture, seamlessly incorporated technology for town halls and events, intuitive and easy-to-use AV technology that allow for staff to utilize a one-button-to-join experience through Polycom codes integrated through Microsoft Outlook Calendars. Additionally, SM&W helped to align the blended use of wireless content sharing and video conferencing technologies, all designed to support BYOD.
The client took occupancy in their new headquarters in January 2021.
