SM&W Contribution
SM&W provided acoustical consulting services for the renovation of Corbett Pool at the University of Wyoming. Arete Design Group and SM&W collaborated to renovate the competition pool, as a part of a project to provide a brand-new team room for meetings, video work, and dryland exercises. The facility also provides newly designated locker rooms with state-of-the-art lockers for every swimmer and diver.
The pool was suffering from excessively long reverberation times contributing to a lack of speech intelligibility within the area. Reverberation times measured by our team ran in excess of 9 seconds, which interfered with the team’s coaching and practice activities. The remodel benefitted both the swimming and diving teams and the kinesiology and health department at the University of Wyoming. Tuned acoustic dampening panels and baffles were added as a part of the renovation to reduce/eliminate the excessive reverberation and flutter echoes.
