James is a Senior Associate in SM&W’s Acoustics group, bringing expertise in room acoustics design and testing, sound isolation, and HVAC noise and vibration control.
A trained musician, he developed an early appreciation for how acoustics shape user experiences and now applies that perspective across a wide range of project types, including performance venues, educational facilities, corporate offices, museums, and hospitality spaces.
During his Ph.D. studies, James conducted diagnostic testing and data analysis to identify and resolve complex acoustical issues, such as mitigating the transmission of pool noise through multiple floors of a high-rise condominium. He also advises designers and project owners on achieving acoustical benchmarks including LEED, WELL, and FGI Guideline standards, and contributed to the first WELL-accredited project in Philadelphia. James is dedicated to creating environments that enhance health, comfort, and acoustic quality.
