Nick Peters is a Senior Associate on SM&W’s Acoustics team in San Francisco, bringing multidisciplinary experience across room acoustics, sound isolation, environmental noise, and HVAC noise and vibration control. He has led acoustical efforts for education, healthcare, judicial, civic, and private-sector projects, supporting both new construction and renovations designed in alignment with LEED, CALGreen, DoD UFC, ASHRAE, and other industry standards.

Prior to joining SM&W, Nick served as an Acoustic Engineer at Smith, Fause & McDonald, where he collaborated closely with architects, engineers, and project stakeholders to develop acoustical recommendations and manage measurement programs, equipment calibration, and proposal development. His background also includes work as an RF and Noise Exposure Engineer at Hammett & Edison, where he modeled and verified telecommunications emissions and prepared compliance reporting for municipal and federal requirements.

Nick holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is an active member of the San Francisco ASA Chapter’s leadership team and participates in the Diablo Grotto, a nonprofit focused on cave education and exploration. Outside of work, he enjoys managing and maintaining a custom-built home server hosting open-source projects used by a broad community of users.
